Kastav Vitellia is a man who bleeds the color of the Red Diamond.Once a Legionnaire of the now-fallen Empire, Kastav has done his mourning. For some of his kinsmen, a fractured Cyrodiil has led them to survival by any means necessary - and for a long time, he was similarly jaded. He's done away with that darkness and has taken up a sword in the name of the Empire again. Not for any Emperor, of course, but for the innocent that remain ever-encompassed in the struggles of war, constant Daedric incursions, and the destruction of their lands by careless Alliance leaders who would see them all slain in the name of taking the Ruby Throne. There is still fight in him yet despite his inability to act as the soldier he once was. He's shifted his line of work to that of an investigator - Of both crime and the occult. It's a quiet fight that pales in comparison to all his homeland has faced within the last decade, but the sword of one will not unite the Empire under one banner. This is the most he could hope for.

Hailing from a long line of Colovian Legionnaires, Kastav's heritage is of no question upon one simply looking at his face. His features are sharp and angular, defined by a prominent nose and jaw that declare, proudly, Imperial. He's a striking figure, tall and broad from days spent swinging a sword and bearing Legion steel upon his shoulders. Most notable about the Colovian, however, is his right leg. Once crushed beneath the weight of his horse, the limb never quite healed right despite any healer's best attempts. He walks with a heavy limp and favors that side greatly, typically utilizing a simple cane to keep himself mobile.

⟡ Intrepid Investigator - Kastav's chosen occupation is that of an investigator and has been for the last decade. Previously, he could be independently contracted by various city guards for cases of simple crime - Primarily murder and theft. These days he's expanded the scope of his work to occult cases and Daedric activity.
→ a very broad hook for investigations! I typically DM things with this for funky lil happenings, think Twilight Zone. I'm not opposed to this character investigating a crime your character may have done, too!⟡ Ancient Rubble: The Citadel of the Iron Wolves - From the earliest days of the Second Era, the Vitellia name has been attached to the Citadel, a Legion training ground located along the Strid River between Kvatch and Skingrad. During the reign of the Longhouse Emperors, the Citadel fell into ruin. Four years ago, Kastav reclaimed his ancestral home and created a new order of elite investigators - The Iron Wolves.
→ though the Iron Wolves no longer functions as a guild, the Citadel remains and the bones of the group remain in tact. this hook and the associated settings can be used as a backdrop for any who would deem Kastav an ally - they'd be an Iron Wolf in spirit.⟡ The Blade in the Hand of the Empire... Once - Former Legionnaires would likely recognize Kastav as one of their kinsmen. He had a reputation for being rigid and caring little for human nuances; an enemy was an enemy, regardless of special circumstances. He served faithfully up until the end of Varen's Rebellion when he was cut down with his horse atop him, rendering him useless in battle.
→ a hook for other former Legionnaires. Kastav is willing to talk war stories, though he isn't the proudest of soldiers.
locations

Cyrodiil born and bred, Kastav rarely leaves his homeland. He's a common sight within all major cities, but most especially Skingrad given its proximity to the Citadel of the Iron Wolves.

"He came around here asking a lot of questions. Too many, if you ask me. Some nobleman had been slain in his own bed and he was asking about our ledgers, of all things. I was quite tiffed that he'd think we were involved, but I suppose asking questions does just tend to be part of the job... And, you know, he did sniff out that cult hiding in our sewers all those years ago."
Cheydinhal, circa 2E 589."He was one of our best. Fit to become a Lieutenant, had that Reach-dog not sent his horse toppling upon him. Say... You know, I heard he would've been able to get away if he wanted, that he wanted to cripple himself. Not to be cruel, but it's no coincidence it happened mere days after he cut down his own traitorous brother."
Chorrol, circa 2E 578."The Citadel has stood as a bulwark protecting the Strid from southern invaders for centuries. Unfortunate that what ended up reducing it to hollowed stone walls was the Black Drake and his barbarians. They seized it from the Vitellia family by force, and the wails of those who dissented could be heard from even here. They were growing Briarheart trees in there, I heard, and cutting out the hearts of minotaurs."
Anvil, circa 2E 580."He's affiliated with Reachmen, you know. Hey! It's no lie! That hedge-mage he's kept as his right hand man will proclaim it proudly. There were others in his ranks once, too - I'd stay clear of them, lest you want to taint your reputation like him."
Leyawiin, circa 2E 593.

One of the few that's stayed in the Citadel. Her heart beats for the souls of the Empire still, too, and for that we remain. My inaction wronged her greatly, once, many years ago... And it's something her forgiveness has allowed me to forgive in myself.

I'm the same age as you were, now, when you tasked me with putting my blade to Andreas' throat. I hate that I don't know if I wouldn't have done the same.
